What is the difference between a vinyl decal and a vinyl sticker? Do you know?

It is easy to be confused between the two, vinyl decals and vinyl stickers. A lot of people use the terms interchangeably.  Vinyl decals and vinyl stickers are very different and it is important to understand the difference.

They adhere to most smooth dry surfaces and last outdoors for years.  They are usually one solid colour and are made by putting one colour roll of vinyl into a machine called a plotter.  Then the vinyl is removed and weeded ( all the vinyl you don't need for the decal) is taken out.  The second picture has two colours as both colours are cut out separately then placed one on top of the other using application tape. The process can be intricate and time consuming.

Stickers on the other hand are made differently.   here is an example of a sticker. Stickers are printed  onto vinyl using a wide format printer then cut out .  Ink is used in this process so you can see that multicolours can be used and blended colours.
